Zinc
Zinc is a metal or mineral, sometimes classified as a transition metal, although strictly speaking it is not, as both the metal and its dispositive species feature the complete orbital set. This element has a certain resemblance to magnesium and to the cadmium of its group, however it is very different to mercury due to its unique physical and chemical properties (lanthanide contraction and powerful relativistic effects on bond orbitals).
It is the 23rd most abundant element on Earth and one of its most important uses is in the galvanisation of steel.
Zinc is highly resistant to cold plastic deformation that diminishes when hot, meaning it has to be rolled at a temperature of over 100 °C. It cannot be work hardened and features the phenomenon of creep at ambient temperature —unlike most metals and alloys— and small loads being the most important.
